Description: This feature class identifies the initiation areas of slope movements from entries in the Virginia Slope Movement Geodatabase. The Process Points feature class includes slope movement type, location, dimensions, movement dates, and geomorphic, hydrologic, and other site data for individual slope movements where known. Rock and soil data are associated with individual slope movements using linked tables. Slope movements are classified in general accordance with Cruden and Varnes (1996).

Description: This feature class contains slope movement deposit polygons in the Slope Movement Geodatabase. These polygons (map units) show the areal extents of significant volumes of earth, debris, and rock fragments that have accumulated as a result of past debris flows and debris slides and, to a lesser extent, rock falls and rock slides. Three primary types of slope movement deposits have been identified in the study area: debris deposits, talus, and relict landslides.

Description: This feature class outlines the areal extent of relatively recent, individual slope movements and older weathered landslides which cannot be associated with a known storm event. Virginia Energy geologists mapped features using direct field observations; 1969, 1972, and 1977 aerial photography scanned and georeferenced for use in a Geographic Information System (GIS); 1994, 1996, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2011, 2013, 2018, and 2022 orthophotography; and a digital elevation model (DEM) derived from a 2.5-foot resolution LIDAR dataset collected in 2016. Features were digitized using ArcPro 3.1 GIS software.
