by W.S. Henika and P.A. Thayer, colored map with text, scale 1:24,000, 1983. This map shows the bedrock geology of the Spring Garden 7.5-minute quadrangle and includes a discussion of the stratigraphy, structure, and economic geology of the area. This quadrangle lies in Pittsylvania County, within the Piedmont province of south-central Virginia. The bedrock mapped in the area includes late Precambrian to Paleozoic metamorphic rocks and Triassic rocks of the Danville basin. Initial investigations and geologic evidence indicate that there is likely a significant reserve of uranium in Spring Garden quadrangle, but no prospects are shown on the map. Abandoned quarries and rock repository samples are plotted and a cross-section is included.
