The text describes the climate, topography and drainage, industry and economic development, and transportation facilities at the time of publication. Geologic structure and stratigraphic discussion includes tables of the results of thin-section point counts, photomicrographs, and photographs of outcrops. Mineral resources section covers granitic rocks, flagstone, ultramafic and "soapstone" rocks, sand and gravel, sulfide ores, copper ores, clays, titanium-bearing minerals, and miscellaneous minerals. The text also has sections on geomorphology, geologic history, and water resources of the two counties with a table of the chemical analyses of surface waters.
