This report and the accompanying maps describe the morphology, stratigraphy, geologic history, and economic geology of the Williamsburg, Hog Island, and Bacons Castle 7.5-minute quadrangles. These quadrangles are principally in James City, York, Surry and Isle of Wight Counties. Tertiary to Quaternary-age coastal plain sediments and recent alluvium are mapped in the area. Cross-sections are included. Quarries and prospects for sand are shown on the maps. Test boring, fossil and rock repository locations are plotted.
